Former Head Girl Gabrielle Joyce has never been one to shy away from a challenge.
Since leaving The Crossley Heath School in 2021, Gabrielle has graduated with First-Class Honours in Politics and International Relations from Newcastle University, worked in Parliament, completed a placement at NATO Headquarters in Brussels and has now secured a place on the prestigious MSc in Global Governance and Diplomacy at the University of Oxford.
But behind the impressive CV is a story of determination, resilience and a passion for making opportunities more accessible for others.

We were thrilled to see former Crossley Heath student, Shuler Xu, recently recognised in the prestigious Forbes 30 Under 30 list for his work as Founder & CTO of RapidX Bio. Founded in 2022, RapidX Bio is developing rapid diagnostic technology designed to improve the speed and accuracy of testing for acute diseases, helping clinicians make faster and more effective treatment decisions.
For Amy, some of her favourite memories from Crossley Heath have nothing to do with the classroom.
Rob’s journey into international tennis began at just six years old, playing on the public courts at Wellholme Park in Brighouse. From there, his love of the game grew steadily, competing in local Calderdale leagues and going on to represent West Yorkshire at the Millennium Youth Games in Southampton in 2000. At Crossley Heath, tennis was part of summer PE lessons, although there was no formal school team at the time. Like many young players, Rob simply enjoyed playing the sport, and a career in officiating was not something he had ever considered. “Officiating had never been a consideration for me at all. I enjoyed playing tennis and that was it.”
