Help Us Fund a Lifesaving Defibrillator for Skircoat Moor

At Crossley Heath School, our core values of kindnesscourage, and excellence guide everything we do. With a proud history rooted in philanthropy and giving back, it is in the spirit of this that we’re fundraising for something that could one day save lives.

We are fundraising to install a publicly accessible AED (Automated External Defibrillator) on Skircoat Moor, a well-loved space used by our students and staff as well as the wider Skircoat Green community.

    Why a Defibrillator Matters

    • In the UK, around 30,000 people suffer out-of-hospital cardiac arrests each year.
    • Every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces the chance of survival by 10%.
    • When used within the first 3–5 minutes of cardiac arrest, an AED can increase survival rates to over 70%.

Importantly, anyone who calls 999 to report a cardiac arrest will be told the location and access code for the nearest AED, so it can be used immediately in an emergency.

Having an AED on Skircoat Moor could have a huge impact on someone’s chances of recovery should the worst happen.

    Where We Are Now

In 2024, we proudly led a fundraising effort and raised almost £500 towards this project - a fantastic start and a testament to the generosity of our supporters.

We’re now calling on our community once again to help us raise the final amount needed to purchase and install the defibrillator.

    How You Can Help

If you’re able to make a donation (no matter how small) we would be incredibly grateful. Simply use the card payment option on this page and write “AED fundraiser” in the comments box so we can allocate your donation correctly.

And if you know any local clubs, dog walkers, runners, community groups or similar who use the moor, please help us spread the word. This is a project that will benefit everyone.

Together, let’s turn kindness into action and help protect our community with this vital piece of equipment.

    Thank you for your support.
