Alumni Spotlight – Bethany Wood (Class of 2021) 🌟

From the classrooms of Crossley Heath to the luxury property market of Dubai.... meet Bethany, one of our inspiring recent alumni!

At school, Bethany achieved some fantastic results in her A-Levels (PE and Mathematics among her favourites!) and was a county-level tennis and cross-country athlete.

After completing her first year of a BSc in Finance and Investment with a First, Bethany joined Bloomberg Europe on a prestigious degree apprenticeship. She shone in finance, market analysis, and client relationship management – even becoming one of the top performers across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Today, Bethany works as a Luxury Real Estate Broker and Property Investment Advisor in Dubai. She’s already had some wonderful successes in her role, and she’s just getting started.

💬 Bethany’s advice to current students:

"Take the leap! You’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain. Find something you’re passionate about, become an expert, and then work out how it can make you money."

We’re so proud to see Bethany making waves internationally and we can’t wait to see what’s next for her career! 🌍

  • Fundraising Fortnight

    Published 12/07/25

We've had a couple of days to reflect… and wow, what a Fundraising Fortnight it was! 💜

🕯️ Basement Tour: Students explored years’ worth of hidden graffiti, artwork and artefacts. They discovered original features like the school's original washing facilities, heard spooky stories, and visited 'Gun Alley' - once used by young men training for the war. Practicing their aim with replica rifles, students reflected on the bravery and sacrifice of those former pupils. At the end, each student signed their name on a special board, becoming part of the school’s rich history.

🕰️ Clocktower Tour: After climbing right up into the rafters (not one for those afraid of heights!), our winners were treated to stunning views over Halifax, an insight into the clock's history and inner workings, and the chance to leave their mark among decades of signatures from staff and students of the past.

It was a truly unforgettable morning and the perfect way to round off an amazing two weeks of fundraising! Thank you so much again to everyone involved.
