    • Christmas Carol Service

      Published 19/12/25

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at our Christmas Carol Service at Halifax Minster. It was a truly special evening, filled with beautiful music, reflection and a wonderful sense of togetherness, and it was lovely to see students, families, alumni and friends come together to celebrate the season.

This morning, we continued our Christmas celebrations with our Crossley Heath Christmas Celebration, a multi faith service held at the Minster for our Year 7 to 9 students. The service focused on the shared values at the heart of all faiths and communities, peace, kindness and giving to others, through thoughtful readings, stories from around the world and musical performances. It was a meaningful celebration of the true spirit of Christmas.

Thank you to all our students and staff who contributed so thoughtfully to both events, and to everyone who supported the collection, which will be shared between Halifax Minster and St. Augustine's Centre Halifax. These moments perfectly reflect the values that make Crossley Heath such a special community.

    • Fantastic Year 12 Workshop with OC&C

      Published 18/12/25

Over the last 4 weeks, 19 Year 12 students have smashed a business consultancy programme led by OC&C Strategy Consultants in London.

Thanks to our alumnus and former Head Boy, Fabrizio De Vito, who now works at OC&C, our students got the chance to take part in this fantastic schools outreach initiative.

Working in small teams, they built key skills in creative thinking, commercial awareness, critical analysis and presenting - developing bespoke business pitches through brainstorming, financial planning, competitor benchmarking and creating professional slide decks. They then pitched their ideas to a panel of OC&C employees, including Fabrizio himself.

A brilliant experience - and with work experience placements now on offer, several students will be taking their new skills even further!

    • School Values

      Published 17/12/25

We’re so pleased to reveal the brand new designs for our school values: Kindness, Courage and Excellence.

The Courage and Excellence designs are fairly self-explanatory, but the Kindness icon is especially meaningful. The yarn is a nod to Thomas Porter, a Manchester yarn merchant. In 1887, Thomas made a hugely generous endowment to our school, on the condition that the institution be renamed The Crossley and Porter Orphan Home and School.

Thanks to the kindness of Thomas Porter (and, of course, the Crossley brothers), our school exists today, so it felt only right that kindness sits at the very heart of our values.

These designs were inspired by a student competition and beautifully brought to life by Mrs Tomlinson. We’re thrilled with how they’ve turned out.

You’ll be seeing them rolled out across school over the next few weeks, so keep your eyes peeled for them popping up!

      Published 15/12/25

A huge thank you to everyone in our Crossley Heath community who supported this year’s Winter Coat Campaign in aid of the Halifax Community Fridge. The generosity shown by our students, families and staff has been truly heart-warming.

This campaign was led by Badar in Year 13, who volunteers with the Halifax Community Fridge and wanted to help those in our local community who may be facing incredibly difficult choices this winter, such as whether to heat their homes or put food on the table.

Thanks to your donations of coats, jackets and hoodies, many people in need will now be able to stay warm during the colder months. Every single item donated will make a real difference.

    • Strong Performance from our U16s

      Published 11/12/25

On Tuesday, an Under 16s team, which had a combination of Year 10 and 11, travelled to Queen Ethelburga's to lock horns for the second time this season. After a close victory for Crossley Heath last time out, QE were keen to avenge this defeat and the game started in a firm arm wrestle where both sides sought opportunities to score. Crossley Heath managed to gain a lead and despite resistance from QE, never looked back and came out 24-12 winners. There were plenty of strong performances from the Year 11 cohort and the Year 10 students punching above their weight did not look out of place.

This exciting squad will form the backbone of our First XV over the next few years. We are always looking to strengthen our rugby prowess. Our Sixth Form application deadline is in just 8 days, so if you are a keen athlete who is considering Crossley Heath please apply now to get involved! On the back of a successful 2025 taking students to Canada and Dubai, we are excited to offer our Sixth Form students further opportunities for international fixtures.
