Chemistry Teacher

A rare opportunity has arisen to join the highly successful and very supportive team of well qualified and experienced science teachers at Crossley Heath. This post is for a period of maternity cover and will last for the academic year 2026-7. Our students enjoy their science subjects and their progress across all key stages is excellent.

We would like to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated teacher to maintain, and build upon, the excellent results achieved by the students. You must have strong subject knowledge and be a confident teacher of Chemistry in KS3 and KS4. The ability to teach A Level Chemistry will be an advantage.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious teacher looking to develop their practice and gain experience within a highly successful and supportive school.

Learning Support Assistant / SEND Key Worker
Scale 3, Point 5, £25,583 (£22,436.29 actual) per annum.

Are you passionate about making a difference to the lives of young learners? At Crossley Heath we are committed to providing an exceptional and inclusive education for all our students. We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Level 3 Learning Support Assistant/SEND Key Worker to join our dynamic support team. You will work closely with our teaching staff and Special Educational Needs (SEN) team to deliver targeted interventions, support students with diverse learning needs, and foster a positive, engaging learning environment. A background in supporting students with autism in a secondary school setting is essential.

You must have a genuine liking for young people and must be able to establish good relationships with the young people in your care. You will be working with a small number of high needs students in the school who can find the mainstream environment challenging. Patience, understanding and good communication skills are essential along with confidence in speaking with students, staff, parents and external agencies. Building positive and trusting relationships with parents and carers is also a key part of the role.

The closing date for applications is 8.00am on Monday 22nd June 2026. Interviews will take place on Monday 29th June 2026.

My name is Dean Jones and I am the Headteacher here at The Crossley Heath School.

It’s a privilege to lead this remarkable school. Crossley Heath is steeped in rich history that dates back to 1585 with education taking place on this site since 1864 when the building was founded as an orphanage and school. This heritage provides the basis of inclusivity and social mobility that we still have at the heart of our ethos. We are an inclusive school family, building on our proud heritage to champion the students of today to become the leaders of tomorrow. We believe in realising every student’s potential to change the world for the better. Promoting values of kindness, bravery and imagination from our students as we pursue academic excellence and strength of character. We care, we stand up for what is right and we dream big.

One of the most wonderful features of Crossley Heath is our warm, vibrant school culture, with a rich diversity of students from all backgrounds.
