  • U15s Bounce Back in Style with Gritty Win Over Todmorden!

After defeats for the U13 and U14 cricket teams last week, the U15s turned the tide in a closely contested game against a strong Todmorden side. Crossley's batted first and dug in through the first 3 overs against consistently accurate Todmorden bowling. Opening bat Monty then got an eye for the ball and hit some fine shots, most of them to the boundary, for 64 before being bowled. With the rest of the Crossley Heath batting going cheaply, it was essential that Aayan K contributed some runs to give Crossley's hope of a total to defend. In his usual fashion Aayan hot a powerful 35 not out to give his bowlers something to attack, Crossley's ending their innings on 117.

When the excellent opening Todmorden batsmen started with assured confidence and hit 50 runs in quick time, a win looked doubtful for the away team. But when Matty D took a good catch on the boundary from the bowling of Matty A, Crossley's got a foothold in the game. Matty D produced a good last over to dismiss the other Todmorden opener, caught behind by Monty, and that laid the platform for Ayaan A and Aayan K to produce match securing bowling spells. Ayaan A's spinned out two whilst the pace and accuracy of Aayan K brought another wicket for very few runs.

Crossley's will now play the winners of GSAL and Ryburn in round two
