After we shared the fantastic news of Jim Farrell, a proud Heath Grammar School alumnus who recently earned his first international sporting cap representing England in clay trap shooting, we were thrilled to hear from another talented alumna: Jennie Cartwright (née Taylor), Class of 1987.
Jennie was House Captain during her school days and has had an incredible sporting journey since. She earned her first England cap (also in clay trap shooting!) in 2022 at the age of 54, representing England in the World Sporting Clays Championship in the USA – and was part of the silver medal-winning Ladies Team.
Since then, Jennie has gone from strength to strength. She now lives on the Isle of Wight and last year competed in the Island Games in Guernsey, bringing home four gold medals – winning every event she entered!
From school netball tours (and the occasional bike mishap!) to international competitions and coaching others at her local shooting ground, Jennie’s story is a brilliant example of lifelong sporting passion and achievement.
We’re so proud of all our students – past and present – who continue to inspire with their talents, resilience and adventures!
