  • Berlin Trip

    Published 20/06/25

Day 2 began with a fascinating visit to the DDR Museum, which was particularly relevant for our Sixth Formers studying post-war Germany, but thoroughly enjoyed by all. We then took a walk around the stunning Museum Island, passing the Berliner Dom, Humboldt University, and Bebelplatz, the poignant site of the Nazi book burnings. The afternoon brought sunshine and relaxation with a scenic boat trip along the Spree, and we ended the day with breathtaking panoramic views of Berlin from the Fernsehturm (TV Tower).

Day 3 was another long but brilliant day in sunny Berlin! We started with a morning of sightseeing, taking in the iconic Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, and the moving Holocaust Memorial. After a well-earned lunch break with some fun and games in the Tiergarten, the group headed to the German Spy Museum, where the interactive exhibits were a big hit. The day continued with some shopping and dinner at the Berlin Mall, and we rounded it all off with a spectacular evening visit to the Reichstag dome, offering another stunning view of this vibrant city.

This thoughtful act is a shining example of our school values in action (kindness, courage and excellence) and shows how our students continue to honour the legacy of our founders, the Crossley Brothers, whose own generosity laid the foundations of our school in the 1800s.

    Well done to all involved!
