If you are curious and critical, and care passionately about the state of the world whilst being able to see two sides of an argument, you will find Politics A Level exciting and rewarding.  The more active and engaged you are with the world, the more you will get from the course.  Maybe you love the detail of how government works; or perhaps the big visions of the political ideologies excite you; or maybe there’s a particular issue that fires you up, such as justice, peace or access to common fisheries.

Through studying A Level at Crossley Heath, you will explore your own views, developing strong values and ethics that will make you the leaders of the future. You will learn to evaluate political processes and structures, developing the habit of questioning critically.  Study of a range of political ideologies will enhance your appreciation of the philosophical debates underlying practical political decisions.

A Level Politics is well-regarded for its academic rigour, opening up future opportunities for study and work, particularly in the fields of media, law, public services, business, government and the civil service.

At Crossley Heath we do Edexcel A Level Politics, which covers:

Module 1: UK Politics and Core Ideologies

Module 2: UK Government and Optional Ideology

    Module 3: Global Politics

“Politics is exciting to study as the world is changing at speed in ways that impact us all.  The best part of this course, in my opinion, is the chance to discuss ideas and through this sharpen our thinking. Students grow in confidence to communicate, as well as growing in their critical skills and ability to engage in society to effect positive change.”
